Doublethink in Biological Education
Cox, Donald D.
American Biology Teacher, 36, 6, 331-333,352, Sep 74
Presents the material given in a talk at the 1974 convention of the National Science Teachers Association in which the author compares practices in biology education to George Orwell's concept of "doublethink," i.e., the ability to hold two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously and to accept both of them. Developments in curriculum design as well as in teaching methods are presented as examples of this situation. (PEB)
