Sticky-Note Murals
Sands, Ian
SchoolArts: The Art Education Magazine for Teachers, v110 n8 p25-27 Apr 2011
In this article, the author describes a sticky-note mural project that originated from his desire to incorporate contemporary materials into his assignments as well as to inspire collaboration between students. The process takes much more than sticking sticky notes to the wall. It takes critical thinking skills and teamwork to design and complete such a massive art project. The complexity of this project evolved over the course of several semesters. The earliest attempts at sticky-note art were designed on graph paper and the murals were simple pixel images of computer game characters. It has since evolved to creating portraits using Adobe Photoshop[R], and then applying a gradient map so that the colors of the portraits matched the colors of the available sticky notes.
