Automotive Mechanics.
Brown, Desmond
This curriculum guide provides materials for a competency-based course in automotive mechanics at the secondary level. The curriculum design uses the curriculum infused model for the teaching of basic skills as part of vocational education and demonstrates the relationship of vocationally related skills to communication, mathematics, and science knowledge. Basic skills matrices are provided that indicate the curriculum in which each skill is studied. A list of course objectives precedes the curriculum. Course materials are divided into units, each of which correlates task, theory, communication skills, mathematics skills, science knowledge, and student outcomes. Units include career orientation, fasteners, measurement, safety, tires, lubrication, cooling system, battery service, electrical systems, starting systems, charging systems, brake systems, suspension systems, wheel alignment, fuel systems, emission controls, drive trains, engine systems, tune-up, and air conditioning.
