This supplementary volume has been compiled from submissions prepared by each of the provincially assisted universities and federated and affiliated colleges of Ontario (Canada). The information in this volume provides further details concerning sources of revenue and types of expenses as reported for various ancillary operations. These include retail stores (including the bookstore), food services, residences, conferences, parking, publishing, and other ancillary enterprises. For these categories, data are provided regarding revenue including sales of services and products and fees, miscellaneous and investment income, government funding and donations. Data for cost of sales and services include wages, contractor fees, salaries, benefits, products, and other (supplies, uniforms, etc.). Direct costs include utilities, rental or other space costs, insurance (as charged to service), garbage, grounds costs (snow removal and upkeep), marketing and promotion, professional fees, taxes, and other. Equipment and capital costs include maintenance, capital projects, equipment and furniture replacement, non-capital equipment and furniture, reserve and depreciation, and mortgage and lease costs. Overhead costs, subsidies, allocation to reserves, accumulated surplus, and reserve balances are also reported. (JLS)
