Introduction to MADE (Careers). Marketing and Distributive Education Competency Based Curriculum Guide.

This curriculum guide is one in a series of competency-based instructional materials dealing with marketing and distributive education (MADE). It consists of some introductory remarks concerning the course, a lesson plan, a course outline, and four sections of lessons for use in implementing the course. Covered in the individual sections are the following topics: the nature and scope of marketing and distributive education; self-awareness (the nature of personality, factors influencing personality, favorable personality traits, personality handicaps, and developing a good personality); the movement of an orange as it passes through the channels of distribution from producer to consumer, and career exploration (general merchandising, apparel and accessories marketing, home furnishings marketing, food marketing, advertising and display services, finance and credit, food service, petroleum, insurance, hotel, personal services, and travel and tourism). Each lesson contains a behavioral objective, an apperceptive base, a motivational approach, an aim, one or more presentations and medial summaries, an application, and a final summary. Also included in the individual lessons are student handouts, transparency masters, and a variety of learning activities. (MN)
