Fibbin with Poems across the Curriculum
Bintz, William P.
Reading Teacher, v63 n6 p509-513 Mar 2010
This article uses "fibbin" (Fibonacci poems) as an instructional strategy to teaching reading and writing across the curriculum. It describes fibbin from a historical and mathematical perspective and discusses it as an adaptation of the famous Fibonacci sequence to teaching content area material (e.g. science, math, and social studies). This instructional strategy is described and samples of student work that resulted from these strategies are presented and discussed. Variations to this strategy and lessons learned from the whole experience are included. (Contains 5 figures.)
