Evidence of Halo Effects in Student Evaluations of Communication Instruction.
Feeley, Thomas Hugh
Communication Education, v51 n3 p225-36 Jul 2002
Notes that the halo effect is a construct reserved to explain individual rater's failure to discriminate among conceptually distinct aspects of a stimulus person's behavior. Examines instructor evaluations completed by 128 students from three communication courses. Finds significant inter-correlations among five measures indicating the presence of a halo effect. Discusses the results and considers implications for halo effects in student evaluation of communication instruction. (SG)
