Introduction to Marketing for 9th Grade Students.
Krotosky, Paul; Johnson, Jeannie G.
Designed to enable students to develop knowledge of personal strengths and weaknesses and to be able to understand the relationship of these characteristics to educational and vocational choices, this guide presents an introductory program on vocations using a thematic interdisciplinary approach to career awareness. It is suggested that the program be conducted by a team composed of a math, a science, a social studies, and an English teacher, and a program coordinator, all of whom will focus on a central theme based on a specific occupational cluster. This guide focuses on the marketing and distribution cluster using the fast foods industry as an example. The five following units are presented with each including activities relevant to the fast foods industry: guidance, math, science, social studies, and English. Each unit contains unit concepts, behavioral objectives and suggested activities and activity sheet. A bibliography, sources of additional information, a vocational interest inventory form, and a guide for vocational guest speakers are also included. (BL)
