This instructor's resource manual and student workbook accompany the textbook of the same name. The manual is intended to help the teacher working with the small business manager and first-time entrepreneur. Each chapter contains these sections: instructional goals; resource people; tips for follow-up activities at the end of each chapter; descriptions of and tips for presenting the transparency masters; answers to questions at the end of each chapter, workbook questions, and workbook vocabulary; and transparency masters. Part I has two chapters: Start Where You Are and The Idea of Entrepreneurship. Part II has four chapters: The Idea of Goal Setting; Considering the Alternatives; Reviewing the Start-Up Plans of Others; and Solving the Location Puzzle. Part III consists of five chapters: Becoming a Competitor; Studying the Market Place; Pursuing Positive Publicity; Advertising and Promotion; and Using Trade Shows and Fairs. Part IV has six chapters: Setting Prices; Keeping Score; Interpreting the Scorecard; The Question of Credit; Managing Cash Flow; and Business Taxes. The four chapters in Part V are Delegating Details; What Risks Are There?; Managing Business Expansion; and Legal Concerns for Your Business. The student workbook may provide some or all of these materials for each chapter: space for lecture notes; practice exercises; vocabulary exercise; and an aid that may be a checklist or series of questions and comments.
