Information Sharing for IT Security Professionals
Petersen, Rodney J.
EDUCAUSE Quarterly, v31 n3 p54-56 2008
Information sharing is a core value for information technology (IT) security professionals. It is also a familiar concept for those who work at institutions of higher education because of their long history of collaboration and openness. Information sharing has become part of the national fabric as IT security professionals attempt to secure cyber assets and protect the homeland. The establishment of effective information sharing mechanisms within higher education is especially important for IT security professionals as they forge a new profession and build a future that supports scholarship and innovation. In this article, the author discusses how to develop a network of professional contacts which creates an effective support system for information sharing.
