Screening and Diagnostic Procedure for Identification of Adult Learning Problems. 309 Demonstration Project.
International Labour Office, Islamabad (Pakistan). Asian and Pacific Skill Development Programme.
This screening and diagnostic procedure is intended to identify Level 1 adults with specific learning problems. The adults not meeting criteria on the assessments for visual and auditory functions should be referred to proper medical services for full evaluations. A prescriptive teaching program should be specifically designed to meet needs of those not meeting criteria on the perceptual segments of the assessment. The procedures are divided into visual function, auditory function, visual perception, and auditory perception assessments. Each section describes tests in terms of purpose, materials needed, procedure, criteria for evaluation, and scoring. The following visual function tests are described: Distance Visual Acuity, Plus Lens, Visual Acuity at Reading Distance, and Near Binocularity. The visual perceptions assessments are Motor-Free Visual Perception Test, Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration--Modified, Frostig Test of Visual Perception--Test I B Eye Motor Coordination, and Southern California Figure-Ground Visual Perception Test. One auditory functions test is described--Pure Tone Sweep Frequency. The following auditory perceptions assessments are described: Auditory Comprehension, Auditory Sequencing, and Auditory Attention Span. Appendixes include a data sheet, educator's checklist of clues to learning problems, a glossary, and reference list. (YLB)
