This curriculum guide on career exploration for ninth and tenth grade teachers is designed as an experimental curriculum to facilitate the interfacing of career education concepts with the instructional program goals in individual school situations. This guide begins with several short sections discussing the career education continuum, Ohio's career development program and its components, the grades 9-10 Career Exploration Program, procedures for Individual Work Experience (IWE), guidance program involvement, and the relationship of career development to instruction. The remainder of the document consists of suggested lesson formats which relate subject matter and career development areas. The lessons, varying in length from four to thirty-eight pages, each consist of an instructional goal; a developmental goal; correlated behavioral objectives and learning activities; lists of resources, supplies, and materials; and teacher evaluation questions. The subject areas and examples of related career developmental areas covered in the lessons are business education (decision making), English (employability and work adjustment skills), fine arts (the individual and the environment), guidance (self), health and physical education (economics), home economics (decision making and world of work), industrial arts (individual and the environment), mathematics (economics), production agriculture (education and training), science (decision making), and social studies (individual and the environment).
