A Comprehensive Enzyme Kinetic Exercise for Biochemistry
Barton, Janice S.
Journal of Chemical Education, v88 n9 p1336-1339 Sep 2011
This article describes a comprehensive treatment of experimental enzyme kinetics strongly coupled to electronic data acquisition and use of spreadsheets to organize data and perform linear and nonlinear least-squares analyses, all in a manner that promotes development of important reasoning skills. Kinetic parameters are obtained for the stable enzyme bovine alkaline phosphatase by fitting the dependence of velocity on substrate and inhibitor concentration using regression algorithms of Excel. (Contains 2 tables and 2 figures.)
