Vacuum Energy and Inflation: 4. An Inflationary Universe

This is the fourth paper in a series of four. The first paper in the series, "Vacuum Energy and Inflation: 1. A Liter of Vacuum Energy" [EJ1024183] discusses an example of vacuum energy. Vacuum energy is explained as an energy with a negative pressure whose energy density remains constant in an expanding space. Paper 2, "Vacuum Energy and Inflation: 2. A Vacuum Energy Universe" [EJ1024958] discusses a model universe consisting of vacuum energy with a few galaxies added in as markers so that the expansion of space could be observed. Paper three, "Vacuum Energy and Inflation: 3. Newtonian Cosmology & GR" [EJ1025126] used the notation of a scale factor to obtain equations similar to those derived from general relativity. This fourth paper in the series focuses on how an entire universe can possibly be created within 10-35 seconds starting from a region of space about 10-45 meters across. To do this, the author closely follows the ideas of Alan Guth, who came up with the idea of an inflationary universe.
