This module on communications is intended to take the hospitality supervisor or manager through the basics of everyday communications, covering the theory as well as the practical aspects of routine business activities. The material is presented in a self-instructional format in six sections. At the beginning of each section is a statement of the objectives that will be achieved as a result of working through the material that follows. Users of the module are asked to relate information given in the text to their own experience and knowledge. Where appropriate, suggested solutions to these questions are given on the opposite or following page. The six sections cover the following: (1) the communications process; (2) methods of communication; (3) speech and body language; (4) interviewing, negotiation, and meetings; (5) written communication; and (6) reports.
