Guide to Program Evaluation K-4. New York State Program Evaluation Test in Science.

This guide provides information on conducting a detailed program analysis using the New York State Program Evaluation Test in Science. The test consists of two required components (Objective Test and Manipulative Skills Test) and five optional components (Student Science Attitudes Survey; Student Science Program Environment Survey; Administrator Science Program Environment Survey; Teacher Science Program Environment Survey; and Parent/Guardian Science Program Environment Survey). Sections included are: (1) "Conducting a Program Analysis"; (2) "Organizing for Program Analysis"; (3) "Directions for Compiling Data" (describing how to use the worksheets, terms used, and the program strengths and weaknesses); (4) "Directions for Analyzing the Program Evaluation Test Data"; and (5)"Developing an Action Plan for Program Improvement." A simulated case study model for science program assessment and a set of worksheets are appended. (YP)
