This guide presents a plan for the complete secondary school technology education curriculum approved by the Technology Education Service in Virginia. Intended users are vocational administrators, program designers, guidance counselors, teachers, and students. It presents a curriculum structure for technology education and a chart of technology education programs and course options. Descriptions of these middle/junior high school offerings (courses) are provided: A World of Choice--Careers and You; Introduction to Technology; Exploring Technology; and Industry and Enterprise. Each description includes purpose, grade level, unit of credit, prerequisites, selected course goals, and a task/competency list with corresponding content/concept. Approved high school programs and the individual courses are then described. The approved programs and numbers of course selections are communication technology (2 courses), drawing and design technology (3), electronics technology (2), power and transportation technology (2), principles of technology (2), and production technology (5). The descriptions contain the same components as do those of the middle/junior high school courses. Objectives and standards for the student organization are also provided. Resource lists are provided of guides and resources for the student organization (American Industrial Arts Student Association) and of textbook and teacher resources for the various courses. (YLB)
