How Engineers Engineer: Lessons from My First Big Engineering Project
Roman, Harry T.
Tech Directions, v67 n7 p15-17 Feb 2008
Little did the author realize how much his first engineering project would change his career path, but when it came, he was hooked forever on doing R&D-type engineering. In this article, the author takes the reader back to his first really important electrical engineering project. While the technology he worked on back then is antiquated by today's standards, the way he engineered the project is timeless, applicable to any project today. Engineering was and still is about process. The author hopes that his story will give teachers and students a feel for the challenges and satisfactions of a career in engineering.
