A Guide for Developing the Instructional Program in Agricultural Mechanics.

This bulletin contains materials suggested for use by agricultural teachers in the improvement of their agricultural mechanics programs. In its function as a guide to planning a teaching program in agricultural mechanics the document outlines the principles and procedures in course planning, 12 guiding concepts in the teaching of agricultural mechanics, safety education, shop management, evaluating the results of instruction, planning the course of instruction, and samples of time allotments. Sample breakdown units of instruction are provided, with lists of possible topics of discussion, teacher and student activities, and references. Topics of the units offered are: planning a home agricultural shop (an introduction to agricultural mechanics), agricultural carpentry, tool fitting, small engines, metal work, power tool construction, painting and finishing, agricultural plumbing, arc welding, oxy-acetylene welding and cutting, agricultural machinery, tractor maintenance, concrete and concrete masonry, agricultural electrification, electric motors, and agricultural surveying.
