The Elder Abuse Prevention Project, Phase Two, Three and Four. Final Report.
Regina Univ. (Saskatchewan). Univ. Extension. Seniors Education Centre.
This document presents the final report from an educational and community development program designed to raise awareness about the abuse and neglect of the elderly. The Elder Abuse Prevention Project is briefly described in terms of project goals, objectives, the model used, the target groups served, and the evaluation processes employed. It is noted that specific goals of the Elder Abuse Prevention Project were to increase sensitivity and awareness of elder abuse issues and resources; help establish resource networks; develop partnerships between seniors and professionals; and help establish local helping networks for intervention and prevention. Included is an examination of the project phase activities in which the goals, target groups, timing and strategies of each phase are explained. An evaluation, as completed by the Project Advisory Group, is also included for each phase. Appendices making up the greater part of the document are used to support and elaborate on these descriptions and evaluations. A discussion of the project in its entirety, conclusions drawn from its successes, and difficulties experienced in implementing the project are discussed. A list of general recommendations is outlined to assist other interested individuals in their pursuit of future elder abuse prevention and education projects. (NB)
