The purpose of this dissertation is to estimate the relation between hours worked and sources and levels of income as well as other market and personal factors for selected groups of low-income family heads grouped into four categories conforming to expected welfare eligibility requirements. Multivariate least-squares regression techniques utilizing cross section data from the 1967 Survey of Economic Opportunity and a variant of work-leisure choice model are used to estimate the labor supply relation. Special consideration is given to the extent of intercorrelation and interaction of the wage and income variables with other selected explanatory variables. Also, a major effort is directed at computing wage and income effects and elasticities. (Author)
