A project entitled Showcase of Excellence in New York State Postsecondary Occupational Education involved the design and development of a statewide strategy to promote linkages among vocational programs at two-year colleges throughout the state. Included among the objectives of phase 2 of the project were the following: determination of the most effective technique of packaging, disseminating, and supporting replication of various project types selected as worthy for diffusion during phase 1 of the project; design and testing of a standardized project profile and a replication index to predict optimum linkage and support procedures; continued testing of the effectiveness of peer contact; continued development and revision of a turn-key system that supports local adaptation/adoption of selected outcomes; and support of the adopter/developer process in the role of participative linker. Feedback and data from a followup study indicate that all of the project objectives were achieved. Researchers found that personal knowledge by project adopters of the linking agent encouraged interest in linkage efforts and that projects were more apt to be adopted if they fit into an ongoing task or priority.
