Report on Employment and Training Programs for Adult Offenders in Washington State. Volume II: Resources Directory and Program Descriptions. Washington State Employment and Training Council Staff Report.
Gowdey, Christine E.; Turnbull, George C., Jr.
This second of two volumes reporting a study of employment and training programs for adult felony offenders is divided into two sections: (1) an inventory of employment and training resources and (2) program descriptions. Section 1, Inventory of Employment and Training Assistance Resources, is an annotated list of resources and organizations in Washington providing employment and training services to offenders. Each entry includes program name and address, program director or manager, geographical area served, client eligibility criteria, and synopses of services offered. The section is divided into two parts. The first, State Agency Programs, lists agencies providing direct services to offenders or involved in program planning and development. Part 2, Community-Based Programs, lists alphabetically by county local public and private, profit and nonprofit programs for which offenders may be eligible. Section 2, Program Descriptions, is divided into three categories. CETA summarizes various Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) programs. State Agency Programs concentrates on aspects of programs that could effect delivery of employment and training services to offenders. Community-Based Programs contains descriptions including client eligibility criteria, services available, relationships with other agencies, and evaluation criteria. Appendixes include listings of Washington vocational-technical institutes, regional apprenticeship coordinators, veterans benefits service field offices, and community colleges. (YLB)
