A Comparative Analysis of Some Aspects of Educating Young Children in Tanzania and in North America: Tanzanian Parents' Perspectives.
Mushi, Selina L. P.
Early Child Development and Care, v156 p15-33 Sep 1999
Examined education of children in Tanzania, United States, and Canada and immigrant parents' views on their child's transition to new educational system. Found that Tanzanian children who came to North America to continue schooling came mostly from public schools or child care centers, most with high educational aspirations. Factors inhibiting transition included poor English fluency and insufficient teacher attention. (Author/KB)
