Evaluation of the Teaching Standards at Institutions of Higher Education Looks Forward to "Five Changes"
Zhentian, Liu
Chinese Education and Society, v42 n2 p30-38 Mar-Apr 2009
In order to promote the sustained and healthy development of teaching evaluation work, five changes should be brought about in the evaluation of the level of undergraduate teaching at China's institutions of higher education: Change teaching evaluation from a specific item of work to a system of a long-term and normative nature; change teaching evaluation from an act of government to an evaluation network with intermediary bodies as the president element; change teaching evaluation from those where institutions passively fulfill targets to evaluation that encourages higher education institutions to proactively seek development; change teaching evaluation from a simple evaluation of teaching work into a comprehensive evaluation of an institution's work; and change teaching evaluation from reliance on investigations by outside experts to stimulating concern on the part of the institutions for comprehensive analyses of data and information.
