This article discusses a new project that aims to encapsulate all the key features of the new Curriculum for Excellence. Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) funding was secured to support this emergent joint ASE/Technical Teachers' Association (TTA) initiative, with Learning and Teaching Scotland (LTS) and Determined to Succeed (DtS) also coming on board. Each central starter theme with spin-off sub-themes will be presented in the form of 3 interrelated ideas maps, one each for three overlapping age zones: (1) pre-school to primary 2; (2) primary 3 to primary 7; and (3) secondary 1 to 3. These are "soft" zones; differentiation and teacher choice will frequently result in teachers selecting work from a different chronological zone according to the capabilities of their pupils. Some sub-themes run across all age zones, some sensibly only cover two of the zones.
