We conducted in-depth interviews with 24 tall college females for the present phenomenological, qualitative research study. As tall females in our study described the impact of height on their self-perceptions, two over-arching key height-related outcomes emerged, each of which contained sub-components. First, participants described themselves as highly attuned to height dynamics. These included the participants noticing the heights of others, perceptions of receiving extra attention because of their height, and a personal sense of identification with their tallness. Additionally, the women recounted personal adjustments they have made due to their height, including slouching for the purpose of appearing shorter, hunting for clothing that fits a tall frame, and strategic efforts in dressing.
