This dissertation will present the findings of an in-depth study conducted on flood victims in Bangkok, Thailand. The objective of this study is to explore the feasibility of using modern technologies as a post-crisis remediation strategy to reconnect displaced families in the aftermath of a disaster. This will include investigating which modern technologies can be used to facilitate the above course. The research takes a global view of the vulnerability of our environs to severe natural disasters and their incapacity in disaster preparedness and post-disaster remediation initiatives. The researcher examined the modern technologies that can be leveraged to facilitate reconnecting displaced families. Notwithstanding, the researcher acknowledges other important dependencies that the technology required to satisfy the above mentioned reconnection process depend upon. These dependencies are effective leadership and economics. The effect of disaster outbreak is usually felt through the entire society. This can be seen in infrastructural damage, traffic disruption, shortage of foods due to the interruption in the supply chain and other economical challenges too numerous to mention. Thus, disaster management requires good leadership. This is evident in disaster readiness preparation, reacting and responding to disaster right through to recovering from the disaster. This study intended to bridge the gap in leadership roles between the national authorities, disaster relief agencies and disaster victims themselves. Increasing the capacity of communities to build resilience to natural disasters and strengthen their institutional capacity through technological innovations, structured system of economics and sound leadership, happens to be part of the researcher's assignment in the World Bank Group (WBG). Research data was derived from the WBG and United Nations (UN) disaster risk reduction literatures, interviews and surveys.
