Addressing Physical and Emotional Issues in Children's Literature
Johnson, Jonathon
Community & Junior College Libraries, v16 n4 p225-228 2010
The purpose of this paper is to examine how physical and mental disabilities are addressed in children's literature. Many authors are able to integrate the issues into their work in a way that enhances the story and benefits the reader. As young readers learn about the issues and struggles faced by children with mental and physical disabilities, they will begin to sympathize with others who are different from their peers.
