Investigated factors perceived to contribute to first-time success on the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification Examination. Surveys of athletic training program directors indicated five areas perceived as contributing to students' passing the examination on the first try, including ability to interpret questions, clinical assessment skills, and knowledge of theories and techniques in rehabilitation and modalities.
