The digital divide between students who have access to and skills with information technology resources and those who do not is growing wider. This dissertation documents a quantitative study on the effect and relationship between age, gender, ethnicity and low economic status on students' access to computers and the Internet, as well as their skill levels with computers and the Internet. The findings indicate that gender, ethnicity, and economic status are not factors in access or skill levels with computers and the Internet. The age of a student does seem to be a factor with older students possessing lower access and skill levels than younger students.
