Campus Community Collaborations: Examples and Resources for Community Colleges.

Describing collaborative activities between community colleges and the communities they serve, this sourcebook provides 15 essays by practitioners at colleges across the United States. Following introductory materials and the essay, "The Roots of Campus-Community Collaboration" (Terry Pickeral), the following essays are presented detailing collaborations with community agencies: "A Little Something for Dessert" (Mark Hoffman); "Service Partnerships: Pathway to the Scholarship of Engagement" (Jacqueline Taylor and John Kingsmore); "Making the Connection: College and Community" (Ed Snyder); "K-14 Partners in Service-Learning" (Maxwell King); and "Service-Learning and Community Collaboration: Connecting Faculty Values to Community Service" (Robert Franco). The following essays are then provided discussing collaborations with K-12 schools: "Just Another Wacky Wednesday: K-12 Service-Learning" (Fred Wells and Sue Borquez); "Service-Learning: A Synergistic Model" (Esther Mason and MaryEllen Gray); and "College Compact and Freshman Company" (Laura Bridges and Martha Cox). After an essay on collaboration with universities, "Service-Learning Collaborations with Four-Year Institutions" (Terry Brown), the following essays are presented describing collaborations with business: "Educational Partnerships with Business and Industry" (Larry Christiansen); "At Brookhaven College and Ford Motor Company, Education Is Job One" (Patty Forsyth); and "Collaboration with Business and Industry: The Mesa Community College Case" (Jesse Chanley). Finally, two essays are included on collaborations with national service programs: "Connecting Community Colleges to National Service Programs" (Jim Glasson) and "Success Can Be Seen in the Stories of the People" (Liz Newport).
