Bringing the Arts to the School Library
Moorefield-Lang, Heather
Library Media Connection, v30 n3 p10-12 Nov-Dec 2011
The arts have their place in every facet of a school, and the library is no exception. Thinking beyond traditional definitions, arts education could include teaching creative problem solving as well as continuous questioning of issues and ideas. The media center is the perfect venue to showcase students' efforts in the arts. This article gives examples of how the arts can be used in a school library at many different levels. Making the media center a safe place where students feel that they can be expressive is an essential. Being the literary hub and the arts center for a school makes the library that much stronger.
