The Next Wave Now: Web 2.0
Mills, Lane B.
Education Digest: Essential Readings Condensed for Quick Review, v73 n4 p4-5 Dec 2007
While many people are just getting comfortable with the Internet and e-mail, Web 2.0 technologies are already changing the playing field for education. Though definitions of Web 2.0 vary, the one constant is that Internet users are now content providers rather than content receivers. The top-down approach of the Web has been replaced with users who build information from the bottom up. In this article, the author talks about Web 2.0 technologies and how these technologies are creating huge changes in the education playing field. Since technology leadership for superintendents in the Web 2.0 world will be different, the author offers some tips for educational leaders on how to support and incorporate Web 2.0 tools at their district and school levels.
