The first Australian National University (ANU) Science Extension Day was held on September 8, 2015. The ANU Science Extension Day is a project that was initiated by Theodore Primary School (ACT) and developed by Theodore Primary, Calwell High School, Science Educators Association of the ACT (SEA*ACT), and the ANU. The project was developed with a number of goals in mind. The first of these was to give students insight into the educational pathway required to pursue a career in science. A further goal was to enable students to extend their science experience whilst raising the profile of science within their school community. This article describes how primary school and high school students were linked with a university student ambassador in order to work together in science challenges in their chosen field of either physics, chemistry, or biology in a university laboratory during ANU's Science Extension Day.
