Long-Range Strategic Planning for the Alamo Community College District. Position Papers.
McClenney, Byron N.; Moore, Kay M.
Prepared for use in long-range planning in the Alamo Community College District (ACCD), this report presents an overview of the District and position papers containing data and interpretive discussion on five planning concerns. Following an overview of ACCD enrollments, personnel, and finances, the first position paper outlines population characteristics and trends in Bexar County and the ACCD and contrasts their growth. District enrollment potentials are assessed in the second paper, which reviews five-year enrollment trends, senior institution/community college enrollment ratios, and projections for the future. The third paper examines community priorities in the areas of skill development, economic growth, quality of life, and equitable distribution of job growth skills, and discusses their implications for education. The fourth paper looks at the present status of ACCD finances, covering the 1982-83 budget, local tax support, fund balances, and space and physical plant, and considers strategies and alternatives for funding policies. The fifth paper presents demographic data on students and faculty, and addresses strategic planning issues related to these groups. The final summary paper assesses the status of the community and the ACCD and discusses implications and emerging issues. Each paper is followed by a form to be used by the Community Advisory Council in responding and adding to the papers. Those for the first three papers are completed and summarized. (DAB)
