Cosmetology. Computerized Learning Modules.
Finnerty, Kathy, Ed.
Intended to help reading-limited students meet course objectives, these 11 modules are based on instructional materials in cosmetology that have a higher readability equivalent. Modules cover bacteriology, chemical waving, scalp and hair massage, chemistry, hair shaping, hairstyling, chemical hair relaxing, hair coloring, skin and scalp, trichology, and state board exam review. Each module programed on an Apple II microcomputer begins with a vocabulary and glossary section, followed by reading passages and visual reinforcements, and concludes with questions that check student comprehension. The final page of each lesson lists correct answers and refers students to the page within the text where the answer appears. Additional worksheets are provided following the lessons. While the lessons are designed primarily for use through interaction with a computer, the written text may be of use in and of itself. The lessons can also serve as review materials for topics covered in cosmetology courses. An epilogue contains a fact sheet, directions for student use, and references. (YLB)
