Initiation of Cigarette Smoking: Is It Related to Parental Smoking Behavior?

The smoking behavior and family stability of 251 undergraduate men and women and their parents were studied. The results support the identification interpretation of the father/son smoking pattern. The variable of family intactness was a relevant moderator of the parent/son smoking pattern. The mother and daughter smoking patterns remained enigmatic.
