Based on a survey conducted by the American Association of Junior Colleges (AAJC), this directory provides information on 719 non-profit, public and private two-year colleges in the United States and its territories, including statistics on 1963-64 enrollments and personnel. Following material on the scope and compilation of the directory, observations on the data are made. Next, the directory lists the colleges alphabetically by state, including the following information for each: location; chief administrative head; AAJC membership; state recognition or accrediting agency; co-educational or single-sex status; type of control or affiliation; October 1963 enrollment of full- and part-time freshman, sophomores, and unclassified students; October 1963, summer 1963, and October 1964 total enrollments; and full- and part-time instructional and administrative faculty in 1963-64. Statewide enrollment summaries are then provided for all institutions and public and independent colleges, followed by tables showing distribution of size of enrollment, independent and church-related colleges by type of control or affiliation, and accredited schools by state. Information on changes in institutions since the previous year, the AAJC, and junior college organizations is presented in the final sections.
