Concussion Education for High School Football Players: A Pilot Study
Manasse-Cohick, Nancy J.; Shapley, Kathy L.
Communication Disorders Quarterly, v35 n3 p182-185 May 2014
This survey study compared high school football players' knowledge and attitudes about concussion before and after receiving concussion education. There were no significant changes in the Concussion Attitude Index. Results revealed a statistically significant difference in the athletes' scores for the Concussion Knowledge Index, "t"(244) = 8.49, "p" = 0.000, and Cohen's "d" = 1.05. Concussion education can help football players learn signs, symptoms, and negative effects of mild brain injuries.
