A Vote for Election Science as an Academic Discipline
Foster, Andrea L.
Chronicle of Higher Education, v53 n16 pA30 Dec 2006
This article presents the suggestion of Merle S. King, chairman of the department of computer science and information systems at Kennesaw State University and also a director of Kennesaw State's Center for Elections Systems, which has helped establish a uniform statewide voting system in Georgia. On the last day of the conference sponsored by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Mr. King suggested that elections were unlike any other events, and that they engaged a number of disciplines, including law, technology, psychology, management, and public policy. He also proposed to establish an online degree program in election science.
