The first of five volumes for Project Teach 'n' Reach, designed to help teachers of grades 1-6 in regular classrooms to teach about various kinds of handicapping conditions, is a teacher's guide. Performance objectives, activities, worksheets, and resources are listed for the use of these teachers in the implementation of their social-science and health curriculum. The guide presents definitions, suggestions for modifying instruction, information on resources (books, filmstrips, posters, movies, transparencies, etc.), and a bibliography coded by age level for four major topics: affective domain, communication handicaps, learning handicaps, and physical handicaps. Subtopics of the affective domain unit are self-concept and attitudes. Hearing impairments and language impairments are considered as communication handicaps, developmental disabilities as learning handicaps, and physical and health impairments and visual impairments are considered in the physical handicaps unit.
