The text of a hearing before the Senate Subcommittee on Education, Arts and Humanities is presented in which the family contribution schedule for the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant (BEOG) Program for 1979 was discussed. A letter from Joseph Califano, Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare, states that implementation of the BEOG program will be possible in the 1979-80 academic year (resulting in increased entitlement for at least 600,000 students and eligibility for an additional 60,000).
