Cognitive Mediation of Aggressive, Assertive, and Submissive Behavior in Children.
Deluty, Robert H.
International Journal of Behavioral Development, v8 n3 p355-69 1985
Examines three critical components of interpersonal cognitive problem solving (alternative-thinking ability, evaluative judgments of response alternatives, and consequential thinking) among 188 elementary school students with differing levels of aggressiveness, assertiveness, and submissiveness. Findings indicate interrelatedness of the cognitive abilities in predicting the psychological traits. Clinical implications for treating aggressive and submissive children are discussed. (Author/RH)
