Presenting a summation of the workshops and recommendations of the National Indian Conference on Aging (Phoenix, 1976), this conference report includes both narrative and tabular data which illustrate the correlation between the 1976 recommendations and those made by A Special Concerns Session on the Elderly Indian at the 1971 White House Conference on Aging. Workshop topics are identified as: income, state income maintenance programs, environment, legal problems, physical well-being, and legislation. The recommendations are presented in a tabular format and address sub-topics within the purview of each of the five workshop session topics via juxtaposition of the problem/need and the recommended action. For example, under the topic "physical well-being" and its sub-topic"nutrition", the problem statement suggests there are not enough feeding programs to serve elderly Indian needs, and the recommendation suggests development of more feeding sites for Indian reservations and separate sites for Indians in urban areas, since Indians "want to be with other Indians".
