Delinquency in Three Cultures.
Rosenquist, Carl M.; Megargee, Edwin I.
The problem of delinquency is examined through a study of 300 boys in the three culture groups of lower-class Anglo-American residents of the Southwest United States (non Spanish or Indian culture), lower-class Mexican-Americans (residents of the United States of Mexican extraction), and lower-class Mexicans (residents of Mexico). The methodology and results of the investigation are discussed accompanied with detailed descriptions of responses from the Wechsler Intelligence Scales, the Choices Test, Offenses Test, Card Sort Test, Cartoon Test, Picture-Story Test, and a physical examination. A summary of the findings is presented with conclusions and implications derived from the results. The appendix provides descriptions of each boy individually in terms of family structure, social adjustment, behavior, and performances on the tests. Additional appendixes present statistical data on test responses. (RD)
