Quality Control. Supervising. Technical Aspects of Supervision. The Choice Series #35. A Self Learning Opportunity.
Lawson, Fred
This student guide is intended to assist persons employed as supervisors in improving their knowledge and skills in the area of quality control. Discussed in the first three sections are the following topics: quality and control (quality, measuring and achieving quality, controlling resources, and quality consciousness); quality control and statistics (means, ranges, graphs and histograms, and probability distributions); control data and control action (sampling procedures, mean and range control, control action, and acceptance sampling). Each of these sections contains an introduction, sections of instructional text that are interspersed with reinforcing learning activities, and a section summary. The fourth part of the guide includes a series of performance checks (an end check, a tutor check, and a work-based project). A unit review, which also includes a description of related extension courses and resources, concludes the guide. (MN)
