The purpose of this book is to help to draw together and cement the relationship between the public and private sectors in the field of recreation and to remove the observable lines of difference between the two. It is also intended to introduce prospective students to private and commercial recreation, particularly those who may be considering careers in these types of leisure industries, as well as to expose students who are now majoring in one of the traditional options of municipal, therapeutic, or outdoor recreation to the private recreation and commercial leisure service delivery system, in order to promote future cooperation between groups.
