Goo, Minkowan; Watt, Sarah; Park, Yungkeun; Hosp, John
TEACHING Exceptional Children, v45 n2 p34-40 Nov-Dec 2012
The use of web-based curriculum-based measurement (WB-CBM) to administer, score, and manage data for instructional decision making is a growing trend as schools face issues of larger class sizes and an increase in accountability for student progress. The purpose of this article is to discuss the issues of teacher acceptability and feasibility of WB-CBM as an alternative to traditional paper and pencil based CBM. The article provides detailed information to help teachers understand and use WB-CBMs. The history and research of CBM and WB-CBM are presented along with 11 applications of WB-CBMs in today's classrooms. Practical steps and a case study to facilitate the use of WB-CBM are also provided. (Contains 3 tables and 2 figures.)
