Parents have been identified as being the most influential factor upon their children career development. There are various factors that influence the career development of individuals from different ethnic backgrounds. The purpose of the study was to identify parental factors that influence the career development of college-bound African American high school seniors. The study was guided by social cognitive career theory. The information gathered assisted in understanding the parental factors that influence the career development of college-bound African American high school seniors, and whether the social cognitive career theory explained the career development of college-bound African American high school seniors.
